About Us

OUR HISTORY

1994

Future Kulture was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark as an I/S company in order to cooperate with Danish associations and arrange various cultural activities which included Street Games, and Israels Plads Summer Program which were in partnership with the Danish Basketball Federation (DBBF), and Danish Sports Union (DBU). Sponsorship came from Copenhagen Commune, Reebok.

.

1994 – 1995

Future Kulture becomes an association under the Copenhagen Commune. The mission statement and goals for Future Kulture are to “Create cultural programs for youth within the fields of sports, music, and exchange.

.

1996

Copenhagen is the European Cultural capital of Denmark. Future Kulture arranges Street Games 1996 and the presentation of 96 basketball courts in backyards throughout the capital city. The yearlong activity was lead by DBBF, KBBF, and DBU.
Future Kulture cooperated with its first European Youth Exchange under ICU for a multilateral youth exchange in Maasmechelen, Belgium.

.

1996 – 1999

Two of the main activities for Future Kulture are established between 1996-1999 which were Street Games and DUNK. Street Games mixed urban music and style with basket and football throughout Copenhagen. Before Future Kulture, there were only spotty activities arranged by stores, shoe shops, or arrangers like Big Al.
With Future Kulture, we worked with local communes to arrange seasonal activities within a very reasonable rate. On the weekends, coaches from the various basketball and football clubs would train with street youth from the various towns and areas throughout larger Copenhagen.
FUKU worked constantly in Copenhagen city, Herlev, Høje Taastrup, Indre Østerbro Bydel, Ishøj, Nørrebro, Vesterbro, and Valby which was later taken up by GAM3 in the late 2000´s.

.

2000-2006

Future Kulture cooperates with Kulturværksedet Dagmar, Maghreb Union and other local communal associations to arrange weekly Sunday activities at Fælledparken. The activities included midday football games with schools and ethnic groups from latin America and Northern Africa which became Unity Cup in 2002.
In the later afternoon, teams from Africa arranged the African Football League and cup. Teams from; Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, constantly participated in the events which usually mixed with Danish and other quality players with possessed the right skills and temperament for African play!

.

2007-2012

Future Kulture was one of the main benefactors who applied and was granted for Itinerant Multilateral youth exchange which allowed youth from around Europe to meet and travel between their respective countries and experience each others daily lifestyles and rituals.
The associations arranged city tours, cultural festivals, learning camps, and other informal activities to provide a platform for young people to meet and learn from each other. Peer2Peer learning was key and many ideas were initiated and propelled by the Youth For Europe, and Youth In Action program.

.

2013 – 2017

Future Kulture cooperated with Roskilde Festival to arrange the Volunteer 4 Life Multilateral Youth Exchange. The program allowed for eight European Countries to send 6 youth and 1 leader to work as volunteers for the Roskilde Festival 2013. Since the V4L2013, we have had cooperation with REACT, and Settle N Share where we have provided volunteers from throughout Europe with the opportunity to cooperate for these worthy associations. In 2017, Future Kulture has another program financed under the Erasmus + program with cooperation from Roskilde Festival, Ishøj Ungdomsskole, and The Copenhagen Post.

.

2017 & Beyond

What will we do in the Future? Future Kulture wants to help youth people adapt to upcoming technology and how it will effect them in their future. Social Media platforms, Virtual Reality, and Content Management Systems “CMS“, and all in youth peoples´s current lexicons, so it is our job to link their current usage with tools they can transfer over for their career or as work experience.
Future Kulture wants to partner closer with the association Nordic GPS to setup a network for schools and institutions to link with Google technology. We hope to link institutions with Google by registering their GPS location and assisting them in their archiving of their information with assistance from Google tools like; G-Street View, G-PhotoScan, etc.

MEMBERS OPINION

I was lost in darkness, no hope in my heart and no reason to keep on. Here I found light and purpose. Thanks to God.
